Position Summary:
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for ensuring workplace safety and environmental compliance. The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for ensuring workplace safety and environmental compliance. They develop, implement, and monitor health and safety programs that protect employees, the public, and the environment. Their role requires a thorough understanding of regulations, risk management, and emergency response.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Work with safety team to develop and update safety policies and procedures to ensure safe working environment.
- Monitor and audit workplace practices to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Develop and conduct training programs to educate team on safety practices, emergency procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct thorough investigations of accidents and incidents to determine root causes and work with HR to recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials to prevent contamination and exposure to hazards.
- Work with facilities to coordinate emergency response efforts, including drills and real-time incident management.
- Maintain accurate documentation and maintenance of safety records including Material Safety Data (MDS) sheets.
- Act as primary point of contact with regulatory agencies, ensuring that all safety and environmental requirements are met.
- Foster a culture of safety within the organization, encouraging proactive identification and resolution of safety issues.
- Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- This position requires an bachelor’s degree in environmental safety, occupational safety and health, other related field, or equivalent degree plus experience.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience working within chemical manufacturing.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S preferred.
- Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.

Compensation:
The pay range listed is the base pay range that Satellite Shelters, inc/Satellite Industries, Inc. reasonably expects to pay someone for this position (compensation may vary outside of this range depending on several factors, including but not limited to, a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, location and end client requirements).
