High-Level Purchasing Agent Opportunity

Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated Purchasing Agent to join our Satellite Suites team. The Purchasing Agent’s primary responsibility would be to ensure a steady flow of quality material in a timely manner to meet production demands. This successful candidate would need to be self-motivated, organized, and have problem solving skills. Overall responsibility would be to identifying suppliers, researching goods, and verifying delivered items.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Research and compare suppliers, continually looking for cost reduction opportunities.
- Select the most suitable suppliers in terms of reliability, product quality, and cost-efficiency.
- Issuing PO’s using MRP system to determine purchase needs.
- Requesting cost proposals and negotiating contracts and prices.
- Maintain records of all transactions, purchase orders, receipts, and payments.
- Schedule and verify purchase deliveries.
- Build and maintain positive, long-term supplier relations.
- Daily communication with manufacturing operations and support staff.
- Analyzing actual demand and forecasts, creating, and releasing purchase orders required to support pre-determined (min/ max / preseason, other) finished goods and parts inventory levels utilizing an ERP system.
- Involvement in new product development team. Source materials for prototypes and new products
- Work closely with suppliers to identify opportunities to reduce costs, inventory levels and product availability and to reduce lead times.
- Attends daily scheduling meeting to communicate and trouble shoot with production team. Provide relevant product information and updates regarding incoming products.
- Interact daily with shop floor to build relationships, check material status and quality.
- Owns procurement process.
- Issue POs in a timely manner.
- Verify receipts timely.
- Verify acceptable quality.
- Work with team to return unacceptable product.
- Follows payment process. Verifies items have been paid and monitors credit status.
- Involved in inventory accuracy.
- Willing to assist in cycle counts as needed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- 2 years minimum experience in Master Scheduling, Purchasing and Planning or related roles in a fast-paced manufacturing environment using ERP systems preferred.
- Background in trailer/RV/truck manufacturing preferred.
- Strong analytical, planning and communication skills required.
- ERP/MRP understanding required.
- CPM or CPIM professional certification helpful.
